CHANOYU CLASSES for ALL LEVELS and INTERESTS

Classes are held in the EWCC Zuishin’an tearooms in the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington located at 1414 S. Weller Street, Seattle, WA 98144, in the East Building on the 2nd floor above the Hosekibako Resale Store.

FOUR-WEEK INTRODUCTORY SERIES teaches how to whisk a creamy bowl of matcha and the Bonryaku tea procedure with utensils arranged on a tray.  Reservations are required. $150 for instruction and materials. Saturdays, March 2nd-23rd from 10:00AM to 12:30PM.

FOUR-WEEK ELEMENTARY SERIES (A) is for those who have completed the four-week Introductory Series or who have taken the UW Chanoyu course. Students refine the Bonryaku tea procedure and learn the Usucha thin-tea procedure that features utensils arranged on tatami, and the use of a ladle to draw water from a kettle. Reservations are required. $150 for instruction and materials. Saturdays monthly from 10:00AM to 12:30PM.

FOUR-WEEK ELEMENTARY SERIES (B) is for those who have completed Elementary Series (A ). Students refine the Usucha thin-tea procedure that features utensils arranged on tatami, and the use of a ladle to draw water from a kettle. Reservations are required. $150 for instruction and materials. Saturdays from 10:00AM-12:30PM.

MASTER CHANOYU CLASSES are for those who want to join the EWCC community of tea practitioners dedicated to mastering the Tea Culture of Japan. Thursdays 5:30PM-8:00PM Fridays 10:30-4:00PM Saturdays 7:30AM-12:30PM, (Tea Tours 1:00-2:00PM), 2:15PM-4:00PM Sundays 10:00AM-12:45PM, (Tea Tours 1:00-2:00PM), 2:15PM-4:30PM

SHICHIJISHIKI Second Sunday, 2:15-4:15PM. Reservations are required

OKUDEN Fourth Sunday, 2:15-4:15PM. Email for reservations.
