Step into our tearooms to immerse yourself in the soothing sounds of water boiling in the kettle, the seasonal nuances expressed through handcrafted tea implements, the subtle fragrance of incense, and the exquisite taste of freshly prepared powdered green tea (matcha). This pan-sensory experience is designed to leave you feeling refreshed and tranquil.

We provide Tea Ceremony classes, Matcha workshops, Kimono workshops, Seasonal interactive tea gatherings, Private Tea Ceremonies, and weekend Tearoom Tours. Explore how you can participate in our programs.

The East-West Chanoyu Center is dedicated to nurturing a deep appreciation for Japanese art and culture, particularly focusing on the interactive Culture of Tea, commonly referred to as the "Tea Ceremony" in the West and as Chadō or Chanoyu in Japan. Rooted in tradition spanning over 400 years, Chanoyu uniquely weaves together art, ethics, aesthetics, and hospitality to create a blueprint for harmonious living.

We sincerely appreciate the generous support of King County 4Culture ‘Building for Equity’ funding for the tearoom construction, and ‘Arts Sustained’ support for our programs throughout the year.
